International Stone Skimming Tournament
and German Championship
1st Berlin Titscher Masters 2024 Recap
The exciting Stone Skimming Festival has come to a close. The stones of over 80 participants flew across the water’s surface amid the thunderous applause of about 400 spectators. Guests from Japan, the UK, France, Switzerland, and Spain gathered in Berlin to showcase their skills in the relentless elimination rounds of the tournament for the 1st Berlin Titscher Masters Trophy.
Only the top 40 participants advanced past the preliminary round, with a valid throw needing to cover 25 meters to reach the coveted quarter-finals. In 2024, the quarter-finals were exclusively for men, while children and women competed in their own final for a spot at the Titscher World Championship in Scotland.
Seven kids competed in the final for the rubber duck trophy. Eight-year-old Lennard Bartheld made an impressive 18-meter throw to take the top seat. Ella Hauter secured second place with a throw of 16 meters, while Gustav Mühle claimed bronze with 13 meters.
In the women’s category, English competitor Emily Bailey edged out Anne Hagedorn with a remarkable throw of 27 meters to take first place, while Anne’s second-place finish was enough to earn her the title of German champion. Congratulations!
Among the men, Florian Richter achieved the longest throw among German participants at 69 meters. However, the record in the throwing arena at Strandbad Wendenschloss went to Victor Binot from France, whose stone glided an impressive 85 meters during the semi-finals before sinking exhausted to the bottom of the Dahme. Ultimately, it was Irie Dreadless from Germany (63 meters) and Gary Bailey from England (83 meters) who triumphed in the first major Berlin final.
These are the results of the 2024 finals.
